The Barrie Colts will be without Dale Hawerchuk for the 2019 – 2020 OHL Season. As reported by Gene Pereira, who is the Colts announcer for Rogers TV, Dale has stepped away from the club with some ongoing health issues.

Hawerchuk, 56, would have been in his tenth season with the team as the Head Coach. He has a total record of 305 – 269 – 0 – 38. His teams missed the playoffs only three times and he has the record for most wins in Barrie Colts history as a Coach.

The Colts have not officially commented on the open coaching slot. Todd Miller and Taylor Carnevale both remain listed as Assistant Coaches on the team’s website.

Jet Greaves, 18, Will be looking to continue the amazing 2018 – 19 rookie campaign he had as he will be the starting goaltender in Colts Country this season. Last year Greaves spent the beginning of the season as the backup to Kai Edmonds but as the season went on he got his chance and he was a shining star. In twenty-seven games last year Greaves picked up seven wins, one Shutout and sported a .911 SV %.

Reports suggest that the Barrie Colts will be picking up Latvian goaltender Arturs Silovs who was drafted by the Barrie Colts 11th overall this year at the CHL Import Draft after he finishes at Vancouver Canucks Rookie Camp where he was drafted in 2018.

Greaves will be looking to improve on the great end he had last year which rewarded him with an invite to Columbus Blue Jackets Spring Camp which didn’t surprise Colts fans because of his amazing play with a struggling team.

Heading the new wave of Colts who will be in Barrie this season is Brandt Clarke, the Colts 4th Overall Pick this past year made waves across the Greater Toronto Hockey League when he put up 35 Goals, 78 Assists for 113 points with the OHL Cup-winning Don Mills Flyers.

Clarke has already been projected as a top pick of the 2021 NHL Draft and is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his Brother Graeme who was drafted to the New Jersey Devils this past June.

Known for his excitement to join the rush, Clarke will be making a lot of Colts fans happy this season as he will be a key to the team’s success. The Colts haven’t had a breakout Defencemen since Aaron Ekblad who is now with the Florida Panthers.

The Barrie Colts 2019 – 20 Season officially kicks off on September 20th when they travel to the North Bay Memorial Gardens to take on the Battalion.

The Colts then will return home for their Home Opener versus the London Knights on September 21st at Colts Centre with puck drop set for 7:30 PM.
