The Hamilton Bulldogs played host to the Barrie Colts this morning at First Ontario Centre for the team’s annual School day game.
In the first period it was Arthur Kaliyev picking up his 16th goal of the season to give the Bulldogs the 1 – 0 lead. Later in the period, Logan Morrison would find the back of the net for his 6th of the season to put the Dogs up 2 – 0.
In the second period, it was Tyson Foerster for the Colts picking up his first of two goals in the period to make it 2 – 1 for the Bulldogs, Foerster picked up the puck and walked into the slot and fired a bomb past Marco Constanini. Jan Jenik would then pickup his first of two on the morning as well to give the Bulldogs a two-goal lead back. Before the end of the period a Ryan Suzuki shot would hit the pad of Constantini and go right to Foersters who’s Powerplay Goal was his second of the morning. Before the end of the period Ryan Suzuki would take a big hit against the boards and Tyson Foerster stepped right up to defend his star, He would drop the gloves with Michael Renwick and would end up picking up the win with a few good punches and a takedown.
In period 3, it was the Colts throwing all kinds of pressure towards Constantini, but the Bulldogs would not go away, Jan Jenik picked up his second of the game to give the Bulldogs the 4 – 2 lead. The Colts came right back as Jacob Tortora would get a powerplay goal to make it 4 – 3. Just 28 seconds after the Colts scored it was former Colt Kade Landry speeding down the wing and firing a bullet past Jet Greaves to make it 5 – 3 for the Bulldogs.
FOERSTER CONTINUES POINT STREAK
Barrie Colts Forward Tyson Foerster would extend his point streak to 7 games as he picked up goals 12 & 13, he has eight goals and six assists for 14 points during this steak.
KALIYEV WITH 9TH MULTI-POINT GAME
Arthur Kaliyev picked up one goal and two assists today in the win which gives him his ninth multi-point game of the season and his second against the Colts. Earlier this year he picked up four points in a 7 – 5 win over the Colts.
JENIK PICKS UP 50TH OHL POINT
Jan Jenik picked up one goal and two assists with his first point of the night being his 50th OHL Point. The native of Nymburk, Czech Republic has 22 goals and 31 assists for 53 points in 40 Career OHL Games.
The Colts weekend continues as they continue their road trip with a trip to Michigan starting on Friday against the Spirit before heading to Flint for an afternoon matinee versus the Firebirds.
The Bulldogs will have some time to relax as they won’t be back in action until Sunday when the defending OHL Eastern Conference Champion Ottawa 67’s come to town for a 2:00 Puck Drop. The Bulldogs are looking to revenge the 5 – 4 OTL that they had the last time at TD Place in Ottawa.
