Christopoulos, Chenier, Korpialho score for Troops, thumped by Petes

North Bay, Ontario: Looking to get back into the win column after a tough third-period collapse Friday. The Battalion hosted the Peterborough Petes on Sunday at the North Bay Memorial Gardens.

The Battalion now are 2-5 -0-0 this season on Home ice, The Petes improved to 9-4-0-0 on the road. North Bay is now 3-13-0-0 while Peterborough is 11-5-0-0.


Period 1 – Peterborough used their three-goal first period to help them pick up two points up north today. Liam Kirk opened the scoring from John Parker-Jones and Jacob Paquette at 8:37. Nick Robertson would then pickup goals one and two on the night at 11:36 and 13:09. Alex Christopolus got the Troops on the board at 13:18 from Harrison Caines and Braden Henderson to make it 3 – 1 Petes.

Period 2 – The Petes extended their lead to 5 – 1 as Keegan McMullen and Brady Hinz found the back of the net for the Petes.

Period 3 – The Petes would get into penalty trouble in the third period as a penalty from the end of the second carried over. The Petes killed it off but then Michael Little was handed a 5 min Match Penalty. The Petes would kill it off before heading to the Powerplay where Cameron Butler (5) put them ahead      6 -1. The Troops would then get back into the scoring column as Niki Korpialho from Pacey Schleuting & Matt Hardwick made it 6 – 2. Zach Gallant (6) &  Butler (2) (6) would then score for the Petes making it 8 – 3 which was the final score.




Hardwick Gets First OHL Assist, Point

North Bay Battalion Right Winger Matt Hardwick picked up his First Career Ontario Hockey League Assist on North Bay’s Third Goal of the night.


Butler Three-Point Night

Peterborough Petes Cameron Butler was on fire tonight as he picked up two Goals and one Assist for Three Points, Butler fired nine shots on net as he picked up his second multi-point game this season.


McMullen First OHL Goal

Peterborough Petes Keegan McMullen picked up his First Career Ontario Hockey League Goal in his teams win. McMullen was a 15th Round Pick of the Petes in 2018 who is in his first OHL season this year.


Hunter Jones On Streak

Petes Goalie Hunter Jones has been on a tear this season, He currently holds a record of 11-2-0-0 with one Shutout. He has a Goals Against Average of 2.628 and a Save Percentage of 0.915.


Three Petes Get Multi-Point Games

Cameron Butler, Nick Robertson, and Liam Kirk all had multi-point Games for the Petes in the Win. Kirk picked up the First Star with Two Goals, One Assist for Thre Points. Butler also had Two Goals and One Assist for Three Points. Robertson picked up Two goals for Two Points.
