Overview of the O: IceDogs 1st round import commits, Otters Jamie Drysdale earns Team Canada captain honours, Saginaw duo leads Canada to victory

The Niagara IceDogs have received an official commitment from their 2019 CHL import draft selection. Swiss born defender Giancarlo Chanton was selected in the first round 47th overall by the IceDogs at the recent CHL import draft. The 2020 NHL Draft eligible rearguard tallied 9 points in 16 games with the Langnau U20 team in the Switzerland U20-Elite league.

With the Hlinka Gretzky Cup underway here are your captains for Team Canada this year. Erie Otters defenseman Jamie Drysdale earned the honour of wearing the “C” for Canada this year. He will be joined by assistant captains Jake Neighbours from the Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL), and Kaiden Guhle from the Prince Albert Raiders (WHL).

Saginaw teammates lead the way for Team Canada in their first game at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Canada faced Finland in their first tournament game, Saginaw Spirit forward Cole Perfetti opened the scoring, he would add another goal later in the game to finish with 2 goals for the red and white. His goaltender happens to also be Tristan Lennox his teammate from Saginaw. Tristan played a solid game from start to finish in goal for Team Canada. He stopped all 17 shots he faced including a couple big saves to preserve the shutout.
