Overview of the O: Russia wins gold at Hlinka Gretzky Cup, OHL alumni joins Ottawa GG’s

Team Canada was a perfect 4-0 heading into the most important game of them all, the gold medal game. Taking on a talented Russian team who evidently proved to be more than Canada could handle as Russia takes the gold medal at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Sudbury Wolves forward Quinton Byfield tallied a goal in the loss. Erie Otters defenseman and captain of Team Canada Jamie Drysdale earns player of the game honours.

2014 sixth round pick of the London Knights Nick Mattinen will join the Ottawa GG’s mens hockey team. Nick played two season with London before he was moved to the Flint Firebirds to begin 2017-2018. Mattinen would then land in Hamilton before finishing his OHL career with the Oshawa Generals. The two time OHL Champion was drafted in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nick now takes his talents to USports hockey.
