The Kitchener Rangers prepare to embark on their 57th season as an OHL franchise. The Rangers along with the remaining 19 teams in the Ontario Hockey League received their regular season schedules.
Kitchener will open the 2019-2020 campaign at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. The Saginaw Spirit will be in town, Friday, September 20th, 2019, puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
Kitchener will hit the road for their following three games. Games against North Bay and Sault Ste. Marie, before wrapping up the first road trip of the season in Sudbury when they take on the Wolves.
Kitchener’s home game schedule breakdown: four Tuesdays, twenty-three Fridays, six Sundays, and one Monday.
The rivalry between the Kitchener Rangers and division rivals the Owen Sound Attack will reignite on October 4th, the Rangers will host Owen Sound at the Auditorium in Kitchener.
Kitchener will play the Attack a total of eight times this season, they will meet six times before the holiday break rolls around. Kitchener will face Owen Sound twice once they return from the holidays, January 31st at the Aud and then one final time in Owen Sound on February 29th.
The Rangers will play their final home game prior to the holiday break on December 20th versus the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. They return to the Aud for their first game after the break on December 29th versus the Erie Otters.
The Rangers will be busy from December right through until February, Kitchener plays 12 games in each month. Kitchener will host six home games in December while playing six on the road. During the month of January, the Rangers will play seven games at the Kitchener Auditorium, playing the remaining games away from the Aud. That brings us to February where Kitchener will spend most of the month traveling, playing just four home games and eight in opposing teams arenas.
The Kitchener Rangers will have a total of 16 afternoon games during the 2019-20 season. Six of those afternoon games will be home games, all of them will be on Sundays while the remaining 10 early start times will take place on the road.
Kitchener plays their final regular season game on March 22nd, the Rangers will be in Erie as they take on the Erie Otters for the 68th game of the season. It will be the final afternoon game as well for Kitchener, puck drop is scheduled for 2 pm in Erie.
Kitchener is looking to bounce back from last season which ended with a first-round playoff exit.
