The Sudbury Wolves announced Quinton Byfield has been named one of the teams alternate captains this afternoon, joining fellow alternates David Levin and Emmett Serensits. Byfield, in his 2nd OHL season, just returned from the U-20 World Junior Championships where he won gold with Team Canada.
Cory Stillman, Wolves coach, fully believes this will benefit the team as they make a playoff push. “We are excited to officially name Quinton Byfield as an alternate captain of our team,” Stillman said. “His work ethic on the ice is the driving force behind our team every game.”
The projected top-2 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft has been magnificent this season, already surpassing last seasons total of 61 points, in 31 fewer games. In terms of next season, there’s a good chance Byfield will be in the NHL, but if he does return to Sudbury, he will likely take the next step and captain the Wolves. Macauley Carson is the current captain of the Sudbury Wolves this season.
