Overview of the O: Firebirds sign 3rd round selection, Zach Robertson will not return to Guelph for overage season, and more

The Flint Firebirds have signed forward Zacharie Giroux to a player agreement. Prior to the Firebirds preseason matchup the team made the official announcement. Zacharie a Sudbury, Ontario native was Flint’s 3rd round selection at the 2019 OHL priority draft. Giroux was selected 57th overall and spent last season with the Sudbury Wolves AAA hockey team, the newly signed forward tallied 55 points in 24 games played.

The future of the Ontario Hockey League was on display once again in the Toronto Titans Minor Midget Prospect Tournament. The top 2020 OHL draft eligible players battled it out in the first tournament on the road to the OHL Cup.

The Guelph Storm will not have overage forward Zach Robertson in the lineup for 2019/2020. Zach will opt out of his final year of eligibility in the OHL to pursue a collegiate career. Robertson will attend the University of Guelph and join the Guelph Gryphons men’s hockey team for the upcoming season.
