Overview of the O: Hunter named Head Coach of Team Canada, prospects sign up for OHL action

London Knight’s bench boss named Head Coach of 2020 Team Canada World Juniors squad:

The bench boss of the London Knights, Dale Hunter, was named Head Coach of Canada’s 2020 World Junior team. Hunter has been the owner, president and head coach of the London Knights for 18 seasons. He has once before represented Canada in international play, as head coach of the gold medal winning 2013 Ivan Hlinka U-18 team. This year’s IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships are to be held from December 26th, 2019 to January 5th, 2020 in the Czech Republic.

“T-Bone” Codd signs with the Spirit

The product of Brighton, MI, USA Davis Codd has signed a Standard Player Agreement with the Saginaw Spirit. He was a fourth-round selection after playing with the Little Ceasars U16 program in Michigan. In eight games in the T1EHL U16 league, Codd scored three times and added four assists. He had previously committed to the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL.

Wolves sign pair of Priority Selection Picks:

The St. Louis, MI, USA born product was signed today by the Sudbury Wolves. Stillman played his minor hockey in Ontario, playing last with three teams in 2018-19. He had 19 goals and 36 assists while playing for the Sudbury Wolves Minor Midget AAA team over 24 games. Stillman was a second round, 25th overall pick of the Wolves, he had also been drafted by the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL.

Larmand was selected right after Stillman at 26th overall. The Midland, ON resident, played for the North Central Predators Minor Midget team. The Centreman played in 34 games scoring 27 goals and adding 24 assists. He led the team in scoring.

Steelheads Ink Sharpe:

The Mississauga Steelheads signed their third round pick at the 2019 priority selection to a Standard Player Agreement. Chas Sharpe hails from Orillia, ON and played last season with the North Central Predators Minor Midget team. The defenseman put up five goals to go with 14 assists over his 34 games.

67’s Assistant Coach to Join Canada’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup Staff:

Mario Duhamel has been named as part of the coaching staff for the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup to be held in Edmonton and Red Deer, AB in August. Duhamel won gold an assistant coach with Team Canada at the 2011 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, served as an assistant with Canada’s National Junior Team at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship and was an assistant coach with Quebec at the 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

IceDogs Ink 2000-born Theriault:

It took the team three years but they have signed 2016 Priority Selection pick Lucas Theriault. He was a 12th round selection, 224th overall. He has since called the Soo Thunderbirds his team, playing 89 games while registering exactly 100 points. He had 52 goals to go with 48 assists. Former OHLers (and Sudbury Wolves) Marcus and Nick Foligno are cousins of his.
